Let's Get Out of Winter

This was taken on the road between Boulder, UT, and Moab; so I ended up having to take it in the middle of the day. Not the best light, but a neat old tree.

It's a gorgeous shot, punchy contrast and color, and interesting. I like the wispy cloud trail, that takes care of the top half frame.

@Marie LC: It is very much a desert, Marie. I wouldn't want to live there, but it is a great place to photograph.

the theme of the tree admirably treaty, may be an acacia, twisted and centenary at the edge of a desert sun and drought, it is light and ruffled so contrast with the bright colors of the sky and the red earth , great John.

This tree holds so much character. Nice framing and capture. While I like the bold light, clarity and color, the drama of different light would be interesting.

despite being mid day the sky is great esp. with that bit of cloud going off in a diagonal. The ground in the foreground is important in your composition as well -- lots of interest!

@Cricket/Tammy: I spent a long time with the Utah tree. I stood and sat there soaking up its wisdom and energy. Much of the time, I was totally by myself. It was clearly one of the most special times of the week long trip.
