ColumbinePosted by john4jack (Corvallis, Oregon, United States) on 14 June 2009 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio. I saw my first columbine while backpacking in the High Sierra back in the 60s. So they always bring fond memories. It was only much later that I found out that they came in different colors.

It comes in a variety of colors, but this is the most common color in the American West. B. Thomas from Arlington, Texas, United StatesAmazing colors. Like the orange better. Very intricate little flowers. Unfortunately for many the American connotation of the word "columbine" doesn't relate to the beauty of the flower. 14 Jun 2009 1:03pm Leena from Joensuu, FinlandSo very beautiful photo! 14 Jun 2009 1:04pm Tracy from La Selva Beach, United StatesGreat shot! beautiful contrasting colors, and of course, your signature tack-sharp focus. 14 Jun 2009 1:18pm mo.langel from Courtelary, SwitzerlandUne très belle macro!
