If Christ were coming again tomorrow, I would plant a tree today.
- Martin Luther
I used a little bit of Topaz, which Yellowbear (Bill) put me on to, and some LR, to process this.
(We're at the Coast Wednesday and Thursday. No Internet!)

Is that moss on the tree? I love how the aging process has transformed this into something more. Beautiful shot.
4 Feb 2009 5:17am
@bluechameleon: Yes, that's moss; it's on almost all of the trees and in a variety of colors (colours??).
My goodness, the underbrush looks so heavy I'm wondering how you ever walked through it. I love all the very subtle colors in this image.
4 Feb 2009 5:46am
@Suzanne: Actually, I didn't walk through it. This photograph was taken from a hard surfaced path that we walk regularly. The fog made the colors even more subtle. You will see the fog better tomorrow.
belle compo !
What a beauty!! I love the Topaz!! have a great trip:-)

Rêve d'automne! superbe interpretation, I very much appreciate
4 Feb 2009 10:20am
l'arbre comme une apparition dans le fouillis des branchages, comme un arbre d'un autre temps surgi de l'illusion.
4 Feb 2009 10:31am
Beautiful moss tree, pure magic! Very painterly!
4 Feb 2009 10:38am
The colors are just gorgeous! Excellent!
4 Feb 2009 10:58am
So different colours in that tree, beautiful scene
4 Feb 2009 11:14am

4 Feb 2009 11:25am
Pretty and Cool Shot :)
4 Feb 2009 11:47am
Terrific colors and great presentation. The frame really suits here ! Well done. A timeless shot for (almost) timeless trees -in the sense, they are here, at every season)... and sometimes have the opportunity to live for a long time. In Paris, we have a very old one, planted just after the murder of Henry IV... in 1607. And he's still alive ! Incredible, no ?
4 Feb 2009 11:49am
@zOOm: Yes, quite incredible, Florence.
Excellent. Love the composition and colors. Have fun at the beach.....

4 Feb 2009 1:28pm
Great processing. Kind of surreal looking
4 Feb 2009 2:04pm
Is it the way it is processed? Because I am really amazed to see the the shades of the colours and the way they formed around each other.
4 Feb 2009 3:01pm
@Ajay: To some degree, it is the processing, Ajay. Look at tomorrow's photo; it is with almost no processing of the same image.
Really nice! Beatiful colours I think. Is it the same photo as yesterday? I must say that I like this better. You see the moss in the tree in todays photo.
4 Feb 2009 3:05pm
@Ninni: Yes, it is the same, Ninni. Tomorrow you will see it with almost no processing. I am finding that what people prefer varies greatly, and that, I think, is good!
Beautiful shot. I like the processing.
4 Feb 2009 3:57pm
I really like the processing in this one too. Sure makes the tree and surroundings look different doesn't it?
4 Feb 2009 4:11pm
@Diane Schuller: Indeed!
probably difficult to go ahead, nice pic !
4 Feb 2009 5:56pm
Something magic in this one.... between painting and photo... I like that !

5 Feb 2009 12:01am
5 Feb 2009 12:19am
I miss leaves.... Is the topaz what makes the yellow glow the tree has?
5 Feb 2009 12:59am
@willow: Yes, definitely Topaz; you'll see this clearly in the next photo.
5 Feb 2009 1:16am

5 Feb 2009 2:41pm
I like the effects on this image.
8 Feb 2009 9:15am
ok, this looks just amazing...like the rest of the scene is sleeping and there's electricity passing through this tree...just wonderful color and contrast and i love how the branches bleed off the top of the frame...so, what is Topaz?...
9 Feb 2009 5:30pm
@Momo: Topaz is a plug-in for editing (http://www.topazlabs.com/topazlabs/03products/topaz_adjust/); a number of people on aminus3 use it. So far, I have only used it for this photo.
That is awesome! I've always wanted to do that but I have never had the motivation. great job

@Zak Shelhamer: Thank you, Zak. It was lots of fun.
