A note about yesterday's photograph. Some people thought that a sepia tone was added. Actually the tonality is exactly what was captured by the camera. The light was incredible.
"People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun
is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if
there is a light from within."

@Linerberry: Thank you. The waves are my favorite part of the photograph.
@EYES WIDE SHUT: Thanks, Paul; it's the one scene on our trip that was much better in B&W, especially for the waves.
@Toni: It was an incredible 20 hrs., Toni.
@10Fraction: I have thoroughly enjoyed looking at your work on your blog. From the number of comments you get, you obviously are a highly respected photographer.
@Laurie: Thanks, Laurie. If we had not moved last September, we would have been volunteer caretakers of the Dungeness Lighthouse for a week last December (people pay to do this!). There are some magnificent lighthouses on the Oregon Coast; you would have a field day!
@Thomas: Thank you, Thomas. I checked out your blog. Those are magnificent elephant shots. The ones with the mother and baby are incredible!!!
@Anna.C: Thanks, Anna. It was taken at some distance away with a 70-300mm and a 1.4 teleconverter.
@Ron: Thanks, Ron. Yep, that's a Silver Efex Pro rendition; I started with one of their presets and made a few modifications within the plug-in.
@Barbara: Thanks, Barbara. There is a 2 year waiting list; it is very, very popular. The lighthouse is at the end of the Dungeness Spit; it's a marvelous 5 mi. walk (but they take volunteers out with supplies in an SUV).
@Diane Schuller: Thanks, Diane. (I wasn't referring to you about the sepia.) On today's photo, following an appointment in Eugene, we went west to the Coast and then north to Yachats. This was taken at some distance from a bluff above Sea Lions Cave. If we had not taken the route that we did, we would have missed it. Another tidbit. I have ridden a bicycle south down the Oregon Coast and never seen this lighthouse; you don't see it from that direction. Thus the tried and true teaching, always look around when photographing; often the best shot is behind you.
@ordinaryimages: You've got it exactly right, Jerry!
@Christopher: Thank you, Christopher. I thoroughly enjoyed looking at your work on your blog. Surely do wish that you would join aminus3; it would be a delight to see a daily post from you.
@willow: Thanks, Willow. It's on the Central Oregon Coast.
@shallowregret: I've heard that it is the most photographed lighthouse on the Oregon Coast.
@baobab: What a nice thought! Thank you.
@drum: Thank you.
@Judy: This is the most photographed lighthouse on the Oregon Coast. For this particular shot, I was testing out using my 70-300mm zoom in combination with a Kenko 1.4 teleconverter. When I blew the rocks way up, I was amazed at the detail. It's the one shot from our Coast trip earlier this month that is in my estimation definitely better in B&W.
