I had not before seen this flower that is in our new back yard, but my wife says that it is not uncommon. It has a marvelous fragrance. (Oh my, it's daphne; that's not new to me!!)

There was a terrific New York Times Travel piece on photographer Edward Weston this March 29. http://travel.nytimes.com/2009/03/29/travel/29footsteps.html You also will want to check out the multimedia presentation narrated by Weston's grandson.

“Do everything with a mind that lets go . . . If you let go a little, you will have a little peace. If you let go a lot, you will have a lot of peace. If you let go completely, you will know complete peace and freedom. Your struggle with the world will have come to an end.”

@chrissy: It's daphne, Chrissy; it has a sweet odor that fills the entire area of the garden. There are lots of blossoms on a single bush.
@xavier cardell: I had to bump the ISO up to 400, and slow down the shutter speed to 1/60 sec.
@ordinaryimages: Hope that I do better by old girl friends, Jerry.
@Viewfinder: Daphne
@Scott Schilling: Thanks, Scott; coming from you, that is high praise, indeed.
