Mystical Falls

Posted by
john4jack (Corvallis, Oregon, United States) on 10 May 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Happy Mother's Day to all of you mothers. (Ellie has all of her boys here today.)
***********************************************************
Today begins a series from my Columbia Gorge Workshop. The opener is one of the magical, mystical waterfalls. Please don't ask me its name (I'm terrible with names); all I can tell you is that it's not Multnomah Falls.

Bill Jennings from Bay Area Northern Calif, United States

truly magical. I look forward to seeing all in the series. The range of colors and texture in this photo is quite astounding. Well done.

10 May 2009 6:05am

@Bill Jennings: Thanks, Bill. What is amazing to me is that I did not need HDR (which I did need for many of the waterfall photographs); the camera was able to capture the full range of light.

A majestic fall! Well done! It is better without the HDR!

10 May 2009 10:31am

@Craig: I only use HDR when the range of exposure exceeds the capacity of the camera. If I create the so-called HDR effect, it is sheerly for fun.

This is a beautiful falls with the high amount of water. There are so many falls along the gorge, it becomes never impossible to remember them from pictures. It's a marvelous river gorge! This is a fine shot of one of the very pretty falls.

10 May 2009 1:28pm

@Don: Thanks, Don. With the heavy snow pack, all of the falls are booming.

bluechameleon from Vancouver, Canada

Beautiful shot Jack! I love the sharpness and detail of the water at the top of the rocks...and then it over over the edge in a blur of motion. Excellent!

10 May 2009 2:06pm

@bluechameleon: Thanks, Sharon. With your area getting an even heavier snow pack, all of your falls should be going crazy about now.

Eric Rousset from Grasse, France

10 May 2009 2:40pm
