In the Pouring Rain

Posted by john4jack (Corvallis, Oregon, United States) on 19 May 2009 in People & Portrait.

During an afternoon Columbia Gorge shoot, we had a deluge. This was taken through the windshield with sheets of water flowing down. (You didn't see me out there!!) Ah yes, Silly Tuesday. (PS - the waterfalls are behind us.)

Anthony Morgan Lambert from Bielefeld (Old Pembroke Dock boy,Wales), Germany

How we suffer for our art,no-one will ever know(well, now they will)

19 May 2009 2:08pm

@Anthony Morgan Lambert: Right.

Evelyne Dubos from Le Mans, France

C'est différent mais c'est intéressant... rien n'arrête un vrai passionné de photo, pas même la pluie qui tombe...

19 May 2009 2:31pm

@Evelyne Dubos: This is "Silly Tuesday", Evelyne.

Don from spokane, United States

The pouring rain adds the vagueness that makes this a fine abstract. It will also remind you how it can rain in the gorge! :-)

19 May 2009 3:26pm

@Don: But it mainly reminds me of how silly we can sometimes be when it comes to our passion.

Susan from Fort Lauderdale, FL, United States

Yikes, is that a person out there, with a long lens????? Hope the camera was waterproof!!!

19 May 2009 3:33pm

@Susan: She was under the tailgate of the wagon, but it was still wet and crazy.

Steve Rice from Olympia, United States

A hardcore photographer!

19 May 2009 4:42pm

@Steve Rice: You bet, but not Jack!!

Richard_Irwin from Belper, United Kingdom

The rain on the glass created a nice effect, I think staying inside was the sensible option.

19 May 2009 5:43pm

@Richard_Irwin: You bet! (And of course we photographers are always sensible. Actually I will put myself in a very precarious position where I could kill myself, but I won't risk getting my camera soaked!)

Magda from Vancouver, Canada

LOL Original! I see you are not as crazy as some of the photographers out there! ha ha ha

19 May 2009 5:55pm

@Magda: That's debatable!! (Actually she was one of the most hardcore photographers that I have seen in some time.)

ordinaryimages from Kentucky Bluegrass, United States

Now that's the kind of dedication I'm talking about : ] best...jerry

19 May 2009 6:42pm

@ordinaryimages: And I do indeed love her dedication, but not enough to get out there in that storm with her!

zOOm from Paris, France

It's not rain, it's a real shower !
Is your lens waterproof ? ;-)

19 May 2009 6:56pm

@zOOm: Hell no; that's why I'm in the car!

k@ from Paristanbul*, France

And the pouring green !!! Strong effect, my dear and your colors are as wonderful as great B&W !

19 May 2009 7:14pm

@k@: Thank you. I do better if I work more like a rifle than a shotgun. And I have a strong desire to get good at B&W conversions. Throughout our house, there are lots of color photographs on the walls, but in my office, I am surrounded with nothing but B&W; maybe it helps me with the delusion that I am an artist :) (Paristanbul - now that's a lot of "bul"!)

Craig from Vacaville, California, United States

Now that is dedication!

19 May 2009 7:15pm

@Craig: Yep; sure ain't me out there in that storm!!

Gary Hart from California, United States

There's nothing quite like shooting in the rain, is there? The fair weather photographers just don't know what they're missing....
