Wow!Posted by john4jack (Corvallis, Oregon, United States) on 31 May 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. When we returned from our late afternoon shoot, this is what greeted us at the motel (shot 10 meters from my room). This brings the Columbia Gorge Series to an end.

@Bill Jennings: My workshop buddy and I returned to the motel a little before the others did. Boy, were we ever glad that we did. @Judy: I went back a checked Lightroom. Not much processing; a little boost in the Blacks, the Clarity and Saturation (but not nearly as much as you might think). It was one of the most vivid rainbows that I have ever seen. @Peggy M.: Thanks, Peggy. @Marie-Hélène Ammor: Thanks, M-H. @Betty: What a gift it was! @Scott Schilling: Thanks, Scott. It was a terrific workshop. @Michael Rawluk: Absolutely. @Momo: For whatever reason, I'll take it. @willow: Rainbows nourish the heart and the soul. @Don Smith: Gary and I certainly have been gifted by rainbows. But I don't expect to ever be in his league as a photographer. He is like you, a true artist. @xavier cardell: The saturation is in the reality. (Take a look at the trees on the other side of the river.) @Judy: Some of the intensity probably was due to increasing the EV by 1/3 and having a shutter speed of 1/50 sec. I did boost the contrast in LR from medium contrast to strong contrast. Also the Nikon Picture Control was set at Landscape which boosts the colors a bit (but not as much as the Vivid setting). What I see on my monitor is very much like what I saw that afternoon. I think that it is difficult for people to grasp the intensity of the colors that late afternoon. I certainly have never seen anything like it. @B. Thomas: Thanks, Barbara; it was fun. |
