Some of the boats in the boat yard have definitely seen better days.

Ah, perhaps your title is accurate, but the rust adds so much to the colour and character. This is great Jack!

Great light for this rusted ship. Colours are incredible
20 Aug 2009 5:39am
Sure...but then so have we all! Age only enriches us as it seems to have done with this great old vessel...love the color and detail here Jack:)
20 Aug 2009 6:07am
@Pavan Kaul: I can easily identify with this old vessel.
As others have said...the rust and other colors and details work in your favor for a beautiful portrait of a boat.
20 Aug 2009 6:29am
More like experienced and still raring to go :P I hope.
20 Aug 2009 6:37am

Rusty old boat, great shot Jack.
20 Aug 2009 10:01am
This old boat probably has lots of life and service left. But it does remind me a bit of Quint's boat in JAWS.
20 Aug 2009 11:32am
busy dock and so many beautiful colors... and good reflection also... nice composition
20 Aug 2009 11:33am

As busy as this shot is, for some reason, I really adore it!!! The colors are just fantastic!!! Beautiful Image !!!
20 Aug 2009 11:59am
@Susan: Thanks, Susan.
It still sits above the water line. The rustic wear adds to the character. Remarkable clarity and colors.
20 Aug 2009 12:02pm
@Barbara: Thanks, Barb.

@kerfendal: Merci, me too.
Un beau vieux bateau! Beaux reflets!
20 Aug 2009 3:22pm
The salt-laden environment is very harsh and causes lots of damage to boats. This is a fine example. Shipyards restore vessels like this one, but it must be very costly and time consuming. Fine post.
20 Aug 2009 3:24pm
Do they still use this boat? Nice shot.
20 Aug 2009 5:40pm
My family is from Coos Bay, Oregon. Amazing. I never see co-incidences like that! How far from Coos Bay is this shot take? doesn't look like that boat could make it to North Bend...
20 Aug 2009 7:02pm
@don: It's about 3-5 km. to the west.
A great shot of this hard working fishing boat. A lot elbow grease and a lot of money would probably make it all shiny again. It wouldn't be nearly as photogenic though.

@Magda: Thank you.
Talk about a rusty old tub...but still a great capture with lots of character.
20 Aug 2009 10:41pm
I don't think I would dare taking that into the open sea :)
I love the colours and detail!
The clarity is outstanding
21 Aug 2009 12:05am
The color of the rust is so appealing. Wonderful find and very well shot.
21 Aug 2009 1:10am

nice shot! great colors and lines
21 Aug 2009 2:53am
It is beautiful as it is but maybe a lick of paint would make the neighbours happy.
21 Aug 2009 3:08am
That boat looks darn tough! Great shot and good clarity and color on these!
21 Aug 2009 3:45am
@Scott Schilling: Thanks, Scott. Great working boats in that harbor.
A boat doesn't get this good lookin by just moorin' around. This isn't old age. This is character. That's not rust, it's petina. A great shot Jack.
21 Aug 2009 3:51am
@Lee: Thanks, Lee.
Ah, but what days it has seen... Great character... no, great rich character in that old tub. Wonderful, Jack!!
21 Aug 2009 3:58am
