A gray morning seemed perfect for a harbor full of working boats.

NIKON D700 1/125 second F/9.0 ISO 200 70 mm (35mm equiv.)

Dulcie from Danville, CA, United States

Gorgeous vertical lines and sublime reflections. Could it be almost overly detailed? I'm not sure where my eye should focus.

I love the jumble of a boat basin or docking area. The detail on these boats is perfect for the precision of our cameras in recording detail. A fine black and white image.

21 Aug 2009 8:02pm

Beautiful B & W capture here. It provides a lot of texture. I like the reflection of the boats' masts. Great use of thirds.

21 Aug 2009 9:51pm

@Steven: Thanks, Steven.

susan from Fort Lauderdale, FL, United States

This shot works beautifully in b&w.....contrast is great, and I don't know if it's my crazy eyes or what, but the sky seems to have a slight bluish tinge, which just really sets the whole thing off!! Great job Jack !!

21 Aug 2009 11:15pm

@susan: Thanks, Susan. I don't see the bluish tinge on my screen. And it definitely doesn't show up on the print.

Hey jack, i just looked at this again, and what looked bluish to me yesterday, looks gray today.....must have been the light in the room yesterday, or something.......anyway, even if it wasn't really there, it was a great look!!!
