@Judy: Thanks, Judy. The Luddite bit has to do with the fact that I have difficulty with almost everything technological. I take in life almost totally through intuition. Two years since buying a D300, I don't use most of the bells and whistles. And the major reason that most of my photographs don't get a lot of processing is that I am so inept in the digital darkroom.
@willow: The thing about backlighting is that when you get it right, the results can be incredible. But if you get it wrong, the outcome is just awful.
