Creek is Down

Posted by john4jack (Corvallis, Oregon, United States) on 24 October 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

The water is way down all over Central Oregon. When I took a shot from this bridge a year ago there also was much more fall color.

Don from spokane, United States

Low water certainly changes the atmosphere along a creek bed. I like this one with the tiny rapids and look of the water as it makes its way among the rocks. Very attractive image. Our fall colors here are drastically reduced from a year ago. Many trees have simply turned brown immediately and the leaves are falling off.

24 Oct 2009 3:01pm

@Don: Thanks, Don. We have been fortunate to have fabulous colors.

MARIANA from Waterloo, Canada

Gorgeous place . Great framing and colors !

24 Oct 2009 4:21pm

@MARIANA: Thank you.

Mike from Shell village, United Kingdom

But it's still a lovely green environment, and you have framed it perfectly. Do you think it could be due to global warming....?

24 Oct 2009 4:41pm

@Mike: Thanks, Mike. Although I certainly believe that global warming is very real, I am not sure if the dry spring on the west side of the Cascades is primarily due to that.

Mhélène from Paris, France

Tracy from La Selva Beach, United States

But it is still lovely. Those greens are marvelous, too. Imagine, in a couple of months that little creek will probably be a torrent! I hear we have an El Nino on the way :)

25 Oct 2009 3:34am

@Tracy: Thanks, Tracy. With the fall rains that we have been having, it already is considerably higher.

For me this image is much more than beautiful. It actually stirs my emotions and takes me back to northern Michigan that is so much a part of me.
Interesting, your note on how different it is from last year, and also Don's mention of the Spokane area.
Excellent capture, Jack.
