As you can surmise, I'm a sucker for fog. This certainly is a good thing; we get tons of it from now until Spring.

The Japanese piece standing in the warmth of the golden autumn leaves marries nicely with the cool fog and tall lines of the trees. Lovely setting. Is this yours ??? :-)
9 Dec 2009 6:49am
@Dulcie: This was taken standing in our backyard looking toward our next door neighbor's. The torii is along our fence on their side; we actually have a much better view than they do.
Mystical magical image Jack!!! Lovely colours!!

I know the meaning of this piece of wood in Japan. But this is not important. Perfection is in the image composition. A perfect dialogue between the human hand and nature. Perfect and beautiful photography master! Greetings Adela

This is a fine shot for the fog which I always like, but it also flies as a fine autumn shot and one that suggests a park or garden. Very successful image.

Beautiful! I love the mood. I'm jelous! We don't get fog here, where I live... further south (far from here) we do, but I've never had the chance to capture it... isn't the lighting quite tricky?
9 Dec 2009 8:26pm
@Anina Botes: Thanks. Actually the lighting was piece of cake on this one.

9 Dec 2009 8:41pm

9 Dec 2009 9:48pm
Bright light on the leaves, bright colors that pulsate and fog in the background, I would at this moment I find this place.
9 Dec 2009 10:30pm
@Alivia: In some ways our home, which is surrounded by magnificent trees and gorgeous flowers, is like a retreat center. It is a very healing place.
Nice shot.....we had some early this morning too.....but since I wasn't dressed yet, didn't get to run out and shoot it.....maybe we'll be lucky again tomorrow!!!
9 Dec 2009 10:48pm

10 Dec 2009 4:06am
@Japanalia: If I had more discipline, all of my photography would be defined by Zen. The torii for me is symbolically the gateway to a deeper spirituality.
I like the torii! I'm a sucker for the things. The fog is nice too.
10 Dec 2009 4:31am
@Steve Rice: That is one cool torii!

Stunning composition with fog. I love the torii and the feeling of sacred space. Simplistic but special image.
12 Dec 2009 7:23pm
@Barbara: Thanks. The torii actually belongs to our neighbors. But we have a great view. The torii is in one corner of the yard and St. Francis is in the other.
I do like your fence/gate element in this shot - the japanese influence is very apparent. I too amd a sucker for fog, and see a fair bit of it when I visit San Fran to my north.
14 Dec 2009 9:48pm
@email@example.com: Thanks, Bill. I spent over 15 yrs. of my working life in the Bay Area.
