Against the Fence

Posted by
john4jack (Corvallis, Oregon, United States) on 12 December 2009 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

This is along the fence in the shot from day before yesterday. I like the texture of the leaves, as well as, having the background of the slightly out of focus wood.

I can hardly believe these are natural..although I know they are. Lovely capture.

12 Dec 2009 10:10am

awesome reds! Lovely against that plain background. Great shot.

mo.langel from Courtelary, Switzerland

Merveilleuses couleurs! J'aime ce beau rouge! Très belle composition!

12 Dec 2009 4:05pm

zOOm from Paris, France

Ok Jack, thanks a lot for kind words. As we French have a very difficult grammar, and as I dreamt of beeing a teacher, because I'm a girl, cher will take an e as well as ami. Chere amie sounds better when you write to a girl.
;-)
Of course, when we talk, it doesn't make any difference for cher and chere sound the same, as well as ami.
End of the class ! ;-))

12 Dec 2009 4:13pm

@zOOm: Thanks, Florence. My Google translator let me down (and this is not the first time). At least on this one, I'll get it right in the future. I really know zip French except for merci and oui.

dabbler from Minneapolis, United States

I have the same feel as Mariana that the leaves seem to carry more volume and weight... Superb capture - lucky you to still have red leaves around! :-)

12 Dec 2009 4:17pm

@dabbler: They are gone now.

zOOm from Paris, France

Jack, this is a good start ! :-)))))
First exercise : Merci beaucoup à toi Jack !

12 Dec 2009 4:21pm

@zOOm: A long time ago, I tried to send a long email to Dane using my Google translator. When I found out what it actually said, it was downright embarrassing.

12 Dec 2009 6:15pm

@Michael Rawluk: Thanks, Michael.

Barbara from Florida, United States

Flawless color and texture. The leaves appear too perfect to be left behind, deserving to be preserved. The fill the frame beautifully against the weathered wood.
Wonderful capture, Jack.

12 Dec 2009 7:07pm

@Barbara: Thanks, Barb.

Ana Lúcia from Leiria, Portugal

Alivia-Dane from Saint-Etienne, France

A carmine red for the grape leaves that contrast with the dark wood of the background is excellent and disturbing this bright light spraying on the leaves

12 Dec 2009 9:01pm

@Alivia-Dane: Merci chere amie.

Mhélène from Paris, France

Just two things and two tones and it is very beautiful !

12 Dec 2009 10:03pm

@Mhélène: Merci.

Self-Indulgence from Chicago, United States

It reminds me of Alice in Wonderland, the queen having her men Paint the Roses Red. They are so very red!

12 Dec 2009 11:05pm

@Self-Indulgence: Yep; red they are.

Judy from Brooksville, Florida, United States

A great capture, Jack ... with wonderful DOF.

12 Dec 2009 11:40pm

@Judy: Thanks, Judy.

Mirza Ahmad from Thames Ditton, United Kingdom

The red leaves and brown wood make a pleasing combination.

13 Dec 2009 6:03am

Hiro from Kyoto, Japan

Nice contrast between pure red leaves and wooden fence. Nikkor 24-70mm ?

13 Dec 2009 8:21am

@Hiro: Thank you. No, this actually was taken with a 24-85mm Nikkor, which is way cheaper and much lighter. It's not nearly as good as the 24-70mm but is a nice lens for walking around the neighborhood. I also like it because it has a macro switch which is nice; it will take adequate macro shots but nothing equivalent to the 105mm macro, or even the Canon 500D screw on close-up lens.

Japanalia from Yokohama, Japan

Beautiful contrast ! The red leaves have even a shine!

13 Dec 2009 11:39am

Francesc B. from région parisienne, France

Colorful and tonic.

13 Dec 2009 10:02pm

Toni from Eastern Washington, United States

Love this one, Jack. Love the red of the leaves against the fence with its softly out of focus texture. Gorgeous!

14 Dec 2009 7:42am

@Toni: Thanks. The out of focus is because the leaves are further from the fence than it looks. But it does make the leaves pop more.

dj.tigersprout from New York City, United States

faaabulously radiant!!! i love this shot!!!

14 Dec 2009 2:44pm

Anthony Morgan Lambert from Bielefeld, Germany

Fantastic colours and a good background
