In the Willamette River series, this begins a group of three shots, the original and two variations. Today's is the original.
Love the colors here! Can't wait to see the others.

I like the way the yellow leaves frame the photo and put the brilliant light in it. Beautiful perspective.

@Momo: Classic for the Pacific Northwest.
Beautiful orange and blue. You are on the better side :)

Flamboyant colors and the perspective of the bridge that carries into the city. Everything is bathed in bright light is beautiful and the light is good amidst the gray today. Good week, Jack, before switching to 2010.

Very nice composition work and amazing colors between the city and bridge and the trees!

I like this version with its nice autumn look. The bridge stretches across and takes us right into the city. Very nice.

27 Dec 2009 3:03pm
Great perspective and colors. There are some fun details to explore, such as the bus on the bridge.

@dabbler: Better bus shots in couple of the other photographs in the series.

27 Dec 2009 7:44pm
Wonderfully composed, and brilliant colors......look forward to seeing variations.......
27 Dec 2009 8:13pm
@Susan: The B&W variations are mainly for experimentation and fun.
you've picked a nice "bridge" between the city and nature, jack!
27 Dec 2009 8:15pm
@marc battault: The nature part is a little bit deceptive, Marc. It was just a gorgeous tree next to a huge, wonderful esplanade on the east side of the river.
Couleurs et cadrage superbes! Bravo"

Pretty scene, Jack. In 1995 I ran the Portland Marathon and remember crossing a bridge like this in the last mile or so. Of course I know there are tons of bridges in Portland (I'll never forget the killer bridge at about mile 17 that was preceded by a long, steep hill). Most of the last eight miles were along the bluffs above the Willamette, and even though my focus was elsewhere, I remember thinking what a pretty city Portland was (and no doubt still is).

@Gary Hart: Our son, Mark, has run the Portland Marathon a couple of times and plans to do it again this October. He also put his name in the hopper for the NY Marathon. (In 1995, we were still living in San Rafael. It was great because all of the kids loved to come visit, i.e., dump their bags and head for the City.)
Lovely colors and beautiful framing.
