I think I'd go back to that tree again and again, in every season. I love the ice/snow all over the branches. You must have caught this one shortly after the bad weather and before anything could melt.

A beautiful contrast between the space filled and empty space. Designs in contrasting silver color space with black color patterns. Branches scratching at the sky! A marvel for the eyes and soul, Jack! The forest spirit lives in this big tree that protects us all! Many kisses for my teacher! Each photograph is a lesson of a good photo ... thanks very much!!!

Self-Indulgence from Chicagoland, United States

Okay Jack this has got to be the best of your last few because of the detail. I mean sometimes I like blurs but I also like detail and you nailed this one spot on plus I think you got a touch of HDR going on here and you didn't overdo it.. it looks natural yet very defined. Tossing a 5 at you!

10 Jan 2010 4:53pm

@Self-Indulgence: Thanks. No HDR. If my memory serves me right, I ran it through Tonal Contrast (in Nik's Color Efex), which can lean toward an HDR look; then I added some Structure in Viveza 2; and finally I used the High Structure preset in Silver Efex.

Meysam from Montreal, Canada

Very interesting.
