CHANGE OF PLANS - A terrible weather forecast caused us to scrap going to Sliver Falls State Park yesterday. We first went to a wildlife refuge about 15 minutes away. There was a little bit of sprinkling but mainly overcast skies. Because we just couldn't resist, we decided to check out Alsea Falls. We ended up there spending about an hour in the pouring rain. This shot that you see was taken in that downpour. Since I have my posts set up until January 22, this is it for today's shoot until the end of the month.
@Self-Indulgence: Thanks. Yes, it was pouring. "devotion" - I can think of a couple of other descriptors might have been more appropriate.
@Susan: Thanks. I used a cheapo cover that is designed for days like this.
@BJ: What you need is a relatively slow shutter speed. Shoot at aperture priority. Set the f/stop to a high number (small opening), your ISO to as low as you can take quality shots. If the shutter speed is still too high, you will need a neutral density filter (often a polarizer will do the job). Try to get shots at a variety of slow shutter speeds. Play around. It takes some experience, but it certainly is doable.
@Gary Hart: Thanks. No ND filter needed on this day :))
@amy: Thanks. It's hard to believe how steady the rain was. Thank goodness I had a raincover designed for camera and lens.
@Anita: I know; I was disappointed )):
