Camille Seaman, a fabulous photographer, says that she never photographs anything with a gorgeous blue sky. A part of me really understands that.
Canon PowerShot G10 1/125 second F/6.3 ISO 200 31 mm
The clouds in Corvallis were special today--I'm glad one of us had his camera with him. Well done, Jack. I like the inclusion of the runner in the foreground.

Well, it ain't blue and it IS gorgeous...You have beautiful "sky" in your area.
I like your frame for this image, too.

I really think the total blue can be a little flat...this sky has layers and brightness!! This is a wonderful shot....I love the sign, and the runner contemplating the run ahead!!

20 Jan 2010 5:43pm
I agree, cloudy dramatic skys are always more photogenic than blue skys. This one is really magnificent. But i wonder what the woman is doing... is it a chair ?
20 Jan 2010 6:49pm
@Evelyne Dubos: Merci. That is a bench along the trail. She is a runner using it for stretching.
stunning this is so beautiful. 5 stars from me good luck with the specialist

Hello , a beautiful photo, i like the light the colours and the composition, Well done, bye, Philippe.

The sky is gorgeous for sure here, but the bizarre of the scene catches the eye first (well, at least mine) : what the hell is she doin' here with that chair ??? :)))) Love the bizarre mood of that superb compo

@k@: It's a bench and she is stretching.
An athlete doing stretches and a magnificent presence of clouds that seem to go heavy with water! A very dynamic image! I like to master! Many kisses! Adela

Your clouds are nearly mountains and your light like a white fire. It doesn't have to be blue to be great.
21 Jan 2010 1:44am
A great capture of some very low-lying clouds. I thought it was smoke at first. I like the way the clouds highlight the horizon and bring out the detail seen in the canopy of the trees.
21 Jan 2010 2:19am
I really liked this cloudy sky.
21 Jan 2010 4:15am
Like a gorgeous painting! Wow! Magnificent

It's one of those great photographic divides that has always perplexed me, Jack. I personally like to photograph what my eyes see, the reason being that if my eyes thought the view was worthy of a photograph, then I'd hope that the lens will capture what my eyes saw. If the sky is dul and overcast, if the clouds are full or wispy and cotton wool like, then I am happy with that. And yet so many photographers feel that a dull sky must be airbrushed or manipulated, that clouds should be tinted and spruced up to appeal.
Here, the sky is abounding with vibrancy and life, subtle colours peeking though those gorgeous thick, rolling clouds. Not a hint of blue anywhere. A fabulous shot that perfectly illustrates my personal opinion. And then there is the somewhat surreal flavour of the scene itself. Superb

@SOUL AFLAME: Thanks, Paul. Like you, I don't manipulate my skies. I love dramatic, stormy skies. We get a lot of blah, gray skies, which I exclude as much as possible. The one positive aspect of a gray sky is that it creates a giant softbox which great for close-up colors.
The sky and light is really beautiful.

@Jacqueline: The onOne software plug-in PhotoFrame 4.5 has well over a 100 frames that can be applied. This one is my favorite.
