First Crocuses #1

Posted by
john4jack (Corvallis, Oregon, United States) on 10 February 2010 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

Couldn't believe my eyes. We recently we were taking a walk, and low and behold crocuses were blooming.

CAN'T WAIT to get my hands on the new Nikon 16-35mm f/4 VRII lens for full frame cameras. f/4 is plenty fast enough for any use to which I will put it. The VRII will be nice; however, I need it more on my 24-70mm (never will be able to figure out Nikon).

The Crocuses make a splash of color that is very attractive. The saturated colors look so good and the blossoms so fresh. Makes me hope spring is around the corner here. Nice post.

Looks as though your spring has sprung already Jack... Wonderful shot & lovely vibrant colors. ................ Good luck with the new lens .. Have just purchased the 24 - 85 for my D3

10 Feb 2010 5:00pm

@LESLIE: The 24-85mm is my primary walk-around lens. It's much lighter and less cumbersome than the 24-70mm. They are saying that the 16-35mm will be available around the end of March.

Gary from Cochise County, United States

Great job. The colors are outstanding.

SOUL AFLAME from The bosom of Mother Nature, United Kingdom

Now I'm jealous, it's official! That lens will be a cracker, I'm sure. The VR system is so much better than the standard lenses, but it now means upgrading which is darned expensive. I'm currently looking to replace my 18-105 VR and 55-200 standard with a Nikkor 18-200 VR but it's about £700! A beautiful shot, Jack, that makes me smile. It's snowing here again and the ice has returned..... bbbrrrrrr

10 Feb 2010 5:25pm

@SOUL AFLAME: When I bought my first DSLR (D80) the end of 2006, I got the VRI version of the 18-200mm because I could only afford one lens. It still is working great. The latest version is VRII, which gives you about a 4 stop advantage. If I had one lens for my D300, that would be it. (PS - I still find the D300 to be an incredible camera.)

tataray from St Laurs, France
