Neat Old Barn

Posted by
john4jack (Corvallis, Oregon, United States) on 15 February 2010 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

On February 5, Ellie and I took a drive in the countryside. It was an incredible Springlike day (warm and sunny). Old barns are among my favorite subject matter. If it looks like everything is going downhill, it was. The frame is an onOne acid burn frame.

Self-Indulgence from Chicagoland, United States

It's an excellent photo Jack. You show well the age of the barn and there is plenty of color in this image. I don't want to be critical, ever to my friends, but I will just say your photography stands alone without the need for trendy or trick frames/borders.

15 Feb 2010 7:32pm

@Self-Indulgence: Thank you. I do the frames and borders because "I" like them. The first paragraph in your About page expresses it quite well.

daniela scharnowski from Berlin, Germany

crisp and clear, and the light looks very inviting for a country walk ;)
the trees in your shots are always something special, this one reaches out to the barn, like caressing it, lovely.

I hope I did not offend you with my comment but I feel that I have by your response. I just meant to say that you take such amazing photos that, as I said, they stand well on their own merit. Of course it is your gallery and your choice. This was only my opinion, but be assured it was a high opinion of your work that was given. No insult was meant.

15 Feb 2010 10:04pm

@Self-Indulgence: No, you didn't offend me at all. Personally, I wish that there was more openness and honesty on Am3. In Corvallis, I meet with two different groups where we regularly critique each other's work. And we are not the least bit reticent to say what we think and feel. As you well know, the diversity of opinion on frames is nothing compared to people's opinions on HDR :)) Thanks again for your kind comments. And please, please say what you think.

Diane Schuller from Hythe, Canada
