Dilapidated

Posted by john4jack (Corvallis, Oregon, United States) on 16 February 2010 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

This dilapidated barn seemed an appropriate subject for Silly Tuesday.

Manola from Bassens, France

A strong thunderstorm is crossed there???
A special centring for this old house!!!

What an interesting barn! I really like the light on the grass and the shutters of the barn. Great photo.

I'm doing fine but lately I'm experiencing lack of "creative mind" :( I hope to be back with some fresh new images for my AM3 friends soon! :))

Susan from Sausalito, United States

It looks so new and solid but for that part of the roof..as if a tornado ran through.

16 Feb 2010 6:46am

Toni from Eastern Washington, United States

More sad than silly, me thinks. It's hard to imagine that someone would let a relatively modern barn deteriorate like that.

16 Feb 2010 7:07am

jamesy from christchurch, New Zealand

have to agree with Susan looks like a tornado has hit the roof

16 Feb 2010 7:13am

Too bad barn in ruins. A good theme for Tuesday but a disgrace to us. It hurts to see a beautiful building destroyed and abandoned! A good point of view and a wonderful high key, master Jack? Many kisses for the "Silly Tuesday"! Adela

Even this modern, metal barn is in serious trouble. Barns seem to be disappearing at a speedy rate. Nice shot of the current state of this one.

terrefic and great shot

16 Feb 2010 9:57pm

Steve Rice from Olympia, United States

Seem funny that someone would spend the money on all that metal siding and roofing and then let it blow away. That is silly! Cool shot.

16 Feb 2010 10:01pm

K.B.R from Switzerland

Dilapidated by wind ?
Excellent, love light.

16 Feb 2010 10:17pm

tataray from St Laurs, France

Abandon .... Triste !... Joli cliché

16 Feb 2010 10:53pm

Steven from Chicagoland, United States

Nicely composed with it off center and and the barbed wire gives nice depth. That's quite a large barn as well. If that's dilapidated, then I have a real winner for next Tuesday's entry; about 75% of the framing is exposed. :-) I like Steve Rice's reasoning above.

17 Feb 2010 12:17am

Susan from Fort Lauderdale, FL, United States

Great shot, and i agree, more sad than silly......clarity is awesome....wonder if they'd had a storm come thru recently, that pulled it apart???

17 Feb 2010 12:25am

@Susan: I don't have any idea. It obviously is not that old.

Charles Dastodd from Chicago, United States

Another superb capture. I really like the composition

17 Feb 2010 1:34am

MontereyJohn from Salinas, California, United States

What on earth happened here? The siding looks newer, but the barn is a wreck. Unusual image to say the least!

17 Feb 2010 1:58am

MK from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The sharpness of the image made it work. Interesting subject

17 Feb 2010 2:09am

Self-Indulgence from Chicagoland, United States

Great grunge! You know it might be good in sepia too given its state of decay. Just.. kinda nudging it over the edge of disrepair. :)

17 Feb 2010 2:25am

@Self-Indulgence: Agreed.

keith from killarney, Ireland
