The buds that were shown on February 13 were from this bush. I used my Sigma 150mm Macro lens for this; it works very well with full frame.

A beauty of flowers in a striking color. You close your eyes tightly after admiring the picture and you still see mentally. A masterpiece of nature perpetuated by a great photographer! Many kisses friend Jack!

Beautiful close-up..great details..very nice..now that i have commented on a few of your shots and finally made it to this one ..i would like to let you know how i work..i don,t have all that much gear..but with my e-volt 410 and 2 lenses i do alright ...i do catch up on techniques with school of photography on the net..i don,t much follow rules..more a gut feeling for me..the main purpose of my photography is to show how i see and does it have feeling to it (sharing)..does it transpire enough so that viewer gets that ..i have a 36 hours window since i work night shift..when i leave for a photo journey i sometimes travel many miles for getting some variety.
If i catch myself wanting to get some great shots it does not work..i have to say to myself..let it come to you just be there..and then it works, the magic shows up...out of 50 shots i will maybe have 10-20 that i think respond to what i seen and felt, then i may do some touching up..got a few plug-in now and just bought topaz..
thanks for your inspiration and feedback..i,m learning everytime i,m out there.

@StarCosmosBleu: I certainly can appreciate the constraints that you have. It is my belief that one could spend a lifetime taking photographs in a single room. I do think that we should trust our gut. However, the more learn of the craft of photography and the more we internalize what we have learned, the better will be the results of what has grabbed our gut.
Such brilliant reds and wonderful details, they are so beautiful
10 Mar 2010 5:44pm
Excellent macro, great colors.
I can not write enough to express how much I enjoy this shot (and yesterday's which I seem to have missed in a mist of silliness!) the colour and the texture I can see is simply perfect!
10 Mar 2010 5:51pm
@MrsAmber: Thanks, Kate. More and more when it comes to Silly Tuesday, i just enjoy the shots without commenting. One of the reasons for ST is to take a day each week to back off from taking our photography too seriously. For me, that includes backing off a bit from the demands of commenting and responding.
Beautiful reds and details in the petales. A good macro in my opinion.
10 Mar 2010 5:56pm
I am aching for some spring colour. We are stuck in the post-winter greys and browns.
10 Mar 2010 6:17pm

10 Mar 2010 6:58pm
A beautiful macro.
10 Mar 2010 7:11pm
oh my, how pretty is this: very. so much amazing detail. Lots to keep the viewer hanging around :)
10 Mar 2010 7:15pm
Red has to be one of the most stunning floral colors, particularly in combination with the gold bells within. I like whatever dreamy effect you have going on here. Having done macro on flowers it's hard to get close and keep definition. You have a little degradation but you used it well, your dof is around the flower centers and not on the edges of the petals or the centers stretching toward you. Very nice Jack.
10 Mar 2010 7:35pm
Good work in maintaining a relatively sharp focus in the flower! :)
10 Mar 2010 7:37pm
Very nice close up work and details on this one - great deep reds also!
