Tendrils

This was taken on the walk to pick up Fiona from pre-school. They have been in great abundance in our neighborhood.

POSTING EVERY DAY - I do it for a number of reasons. First, and primarily, I think that it is a good discipline. It is an assist against laziness. Then, I think that posting every day keeps us more in touch with each other. I have come to value the people more than the photography on Am3. And I think that exposing our less than optimal work provides an opportunity for learning from the comments of others who see where we can grow. What I do know is that I have at most 10 photographs a year that are worthy of going on either my walls or an exhibit wall. In part, belonging to Am3, has significantly improved what I would include in those 10. It's interesting how what I thought was so fine even a year ago wouldn't begin to make my top 10 now. The major growth has been in my artistic sensitivity. And how I respond to the photographs of others is very similar to how I respond to my own. What constitutes quality photography has changed. It's not that I feel more judgmental; just the opposite. However, the photographs that touch me deeply certainly are different, and that is true both for my own and those of others.

Beautiful, vibrant tones ...so many stamen on that flower. The intricacy here just boggles my mind.
I enjoyed reading your thoughts about posting. I agree, for me, too, for now, posting everyday seems important for a number of reasons. But I, too, feel that my really really good images are few and far between...the others are what David duChemin calls "sketch images" leading up to THE ONE. :-)

26 Jul 2010 6:14am

@Dulcie: I really appreciate duChemin's work. Furthermore, I think that some of his photographs are much better than others.

A great reflection friend. I think you've hit the jackpot! (Colloquial Spanish that means more or less. You're absolutely right!) I think like you. The fact force you to submit an image a day is good exercise. The comments help in many ways. All interesting. Discuss peer educate a lot of technical and artistic look! Undoubtedly evolve without realizing it! Regarding personal changes ... is unquestionable. All artistic expression is subjected to personal changes and what was good yesterday, maybe today is not! So if I can say is that since I started in AM3 and I started looking pictures I have changed many things with your help! Your photos have always liked a lot! If something has changed you have the key! I do not tell you! I'm sure your pictures are great and very artistic. Sensitive and get my spirit! I imagine something very personal! The small yellow flower dotted with orange today is beautiful but it is also the pleasure to behold, to love ... and this is something different ... hard to find on the part of the photographed. We talk about feelings, to communicate and this is part of the concept of a work of art! A big hug teacher! Many kisses friend! Adela

Your flower is delightful ... what is it?
I like your text and your reasons for posting ... discipline is my #1, training my eyes to appreciate beauty of all kinds, growth, and learning what others see are all part of the equation.

I agree about posting every day. I started here as a place to share my photos with local friends, but learned that I so enjoy seeing what others are doing, and learning from them.

Uh Oh......I was thinking about cutting back to once every other day, but now you have me thinking again. I have lots to put up there, but I hate to put up junk. I will always endeavor to avoid that.On the other hand, one photag's jumk may be another photags "masterpiece." The analogy I like to use is that photographs are alot like music: skills, technique and talent are pretty key but if those elements are in place, it's still all left to the various interpretations coming from various mindsets. But I definitely agree with you and BArbara about the value of this marvelous thing we call Aminus3.

What a beautiful, and interesting, looking flower. I love the bright yellow against the green.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts about "posting every day". Discipline is also one of the main reasons I post everyday, but it also forces me to go out and shoot on a regular basis to ensure I have a photo to post everyday. Since I joined Am3 I also learned (and am still learning) to appreciate other "styles" of photography and how other people see and experience things differently to me. And by viewing other blogs on a daily basis I feel I "stay in touch" with my Am3 friends. I am a visual learner and just by viewing others' work I learn every single day. Thanks to you for being one of these people :)
