Columbine & Bug

Posted by
john4jack (Corvallis, Oregon, United States) on 20 August 2010 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

Next to yesterday's waterfalls were banks of gorgeous Columbine. I chose this shot because of the bug.

A fine action shot. The intense color is striking, but the capture of a visitor in mid air is so good!!!

What an amazing specimen (unknown for me). An explosion of colors. A beauty indeed. There's a flying admirator.

20 Aug 2010 6:55pm

@Florence: It was the position of the bug that determined the shot. I captured it in different places around the blossom, but this was the best location.

Wow! great capture! How did you do it!!! Superb in motion shot! love the colors and details!

21 Aug 2010 1:33am

@Wild Mustang Photography: I ran the ISO up so that I could use a fast shutter speed. And then I fired away. I've got shots of the bug all over the place; this is the one I preferred. If you look closely, there is another tiny bug on the left side of the flower.
