Foggy HDR #1

Posted by
john4jack (Corvallis, Oregon, United States) on 24 October 2010 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

Today I begin a series of five HDR photographs. There is no attempt to be realistic. These were taken on a foggy morning earlier this month. This first shot is the only one processed with Photomatix 4.

PhotOpus from Aix-en-Provence, France

Honestly! I'm really stayed behind on seeing this impressive picture that deserves the best compliment. The sun rarely seen in this light and with long breaks (???) (and HDR ...) that adorn the landscape beautifully.

24 Oct 2010 7:25am

CElliottUK from Reading, United Kingdom

I'm really interested to see how things progress in this series. I've got a "not sure" attitude to HDR, who knows, I might end up loving it!

24 Oct 2010 7:50am

Tede from Aubenas 07, France

An image of gold! Splendid colors and wonderful processing. Good Sunday.

24 Oct 2010 8:07pm

@bluechameleon: I'll stick it on. Thank you for your kind words.

DULCIE from Danville, CA, United States

BRAVO! Seriously lovely. The "feeling" of the moment is fully realized here.
So soft and subtle and beautifully colored.
For this image, I have to abandon my skepticism about HDR.... This is magnificent.

24 Oct 2010 8:53pm

@DULCIE: HDR covers a broad spectrum. Tomorrow you'll see something a little more off-beat.

Skyriani from Nelson, New Zealand

24 Oct 2010 9:30pm

Barbara from Florida, United States

Bettina, said it best. "Overwhelmingly Beautiful".
I hear so many negatives about HDR, you just wiped them off the board.
I couldn't even compare this to HDR.
Absolutely magnificent. Love the rich gold color and the soft atmosphere while the ground cover has more clarity and artistic texture.
5 stars and the moon!

Barbara Lee from Oakland, United States

Congratulations on the Spotlight, jack! Super! I like the one from Nik also. How are you enjoying this new plugin? Are the controls similar to photomatix?

26 Oct 2010 2:11am

@Barbara Lee: Thank you. I love the Nik HDR Efex. Personally I much prefer it over Photomatix 4 for the way that it works. It seems to me more user friendly. Plus, I love having tons of presets which give a head start. However, I must also say that I don't think that it improves on the performance of Photomatix.

DarkElf from Perth, Australia

certainly an interesting effect with an amazing golden glow!

Congratulations on this spotlight. I knew when I seen this series so far that it was

Very 'other worldly' Jack, a little like a video game rendering. Incredible and interesting use of HDR, would have thought it unnecessary for foggy scenes but very glad to be (once again) proved wrong.

Very nice
