Natural Color

Posted by
john4jack (Corvallis, Oregon, United States) on 13 December 2010 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

The photograph of this rose that refuses to let go has almost no processing (although I don't think that there is any virtue in that; I'm simply being descriptive). It has a natural vintage look.

THANK YOU for the kind wishes on my 2nd Aminus3 anniversary.

MAGNIFICAT - in place of the sermon at worship yesterday, the choir, soloists, organ and strings presented Vivaldi's, Magnificat. It was gorgeous and a profoundly spiritual experience. I often believe that in the world of art forms, photography is closer to music than it is to painting.

When something like this beautiful rose withers ... we have the aroma ... lovingly placed each of its petals between the pages of the book you are reading. Remember how it was ... and leave it fresh and recently cut in our hearts. I love this tender and romantic image holding in your hand ... with your permission I'll take it to defoliate and keep their pale petals. Beautiful! Thanks friend Jack! Muchos besos y abrazos, Adela

I like the vintage look of your rose shot. Very well done. I found your Sunday worship experience very interesting. I would like to have been there. Your comment that photography is closer to music than to paining is one to think about. Right off, I tend to agree, but this is an idea that needs some pondering.

13 Dec 2010 4:15pm

@Don: pondering is good (and pondering certainly trumps pontificating:)) ).

Beautiful vintage look...and with out too much effort. A bonus. Well captured...congrats on your 2nd anniversary.

What a nice write up about your church service yesterday. I agree with you. Music is art for sure, and appreciators of one medium can often appreciate the others. I too love my music. I like this most natural and waning rose. Never say die!

Jack - This is so beautiful and very natural indeed. Secondly, I am so sorry, I was unaware of your second AM3 anniversayr - heartiest congrats for sure! Finally, the connection between music and photography is stronger than most people think. I have long felt this as well. This is the idea that I aways have in my mind when I photograph...I don't think of art, I think of music. As you have so beautifully pointed out, music is more inspiring in so many ways if we just open our hearts. For, a true musician or music lover must not only have an open mind, but an open heart....thus the connection to photogaphy.

13 Dec 2010 7:35pm

@Denny Jump Photo: thank you. you express it so much more eloquently than i do.

Wonderful character shot. I think I shall self-describe myself as having - "a natural vintage look" . . . sounds much better than "passed my prime" !
