Mystical for Certain

Posted by
john4jack (Corvallis, Oregon, United States) on 21 December 2010 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

This was taken on a super foggy morning (as the cliche goes, as thick as pea soup), the second photo adventure for Max and me. There us something very mystical to me about fog.

Ellie thanks all of you for your birthday greetings.

yes, fog is mysterious ... things are there, yet not quite there.... this is a lovely shot - the more you look, the more things you might (or might not) see through the fog!

I often find that the isolating effect of fog can make us see more that we might on a clear day . . I guess it is because of the separation it offers. The fine tree here is a good example, perhaps.

Indeed mystical and magical. I love how you have composed the scene.

21 Dec 2010 3:10pm

Harry from Apex, United States

Lovely, simple composition. Nice use of the fence as foreground for the fog-obscured more distant trees. Perhaps a little too strongly vignetted for my eye.

21 Dec 2010 3:14pm

@Harry: when i originally put it in for posting, it did not have a vignette. i have been playing a bunch with vignettes these days

Don from Spokane, United States

I like the fence as a foreground element in darker colors. The fog, as always, enhances the look of the trees in the distance. Fine black and white shot.

I am so fond of fog. I can hardly wait until we move to the coast and can experience it frequently. This is a truly beautiful image. It should be blown up and hanging on someone's wall.

Beautiful foggy morning. Great silhouetting of the trees, showing nice layers with those captured in the background. If only I had the opp this morning as fog rolled in off the lake across the fresh-fallen snow.
