For the first time since Beau died over a month ago, I went back to the area where we were photographing that morning. This time Max was with me. He's a great little trooper.
Nikon D700 1/160 second F/7.1 ISO 200 190 mm (35mm equiv.)
I have a feeling Beau knows you were back there. Beautiful image.

It's a beautiful and soul satisfying spot to remember Beau and to begin new adventures with Max.
I especially like the mist the the greens.

beautiful mood to see this fog is coming up!
great contrast from the front to the back, great landscape!

I'm soooo pleased that Max is, at least to some degree, diminishing the pain of Beau's demise. But I have to ask, where is Max?-is this like the doggy equivalent of "Spot the ball", or am I just being blind?
13 Jan 2011 9:04am
@CElliottUK: Max says, "I'm a photographer's assistant. I only model when something extraordinary is desired!"
Another lovely shot..

A hug and all my love in my kiss frien Jack! Adela

@Adela Fonts: that is a very emotional section of the forest for me
Amazing and beautiful photo, the fog is mysterious and the color is
a masterpiece dream. Reminds me of your work when you got a
spotlight for a similar location.
13 Jan 2011 11:25am
@Phil David Morris: That Spotlight shot was taken from less than 100 meters away.
Ohh, I expected I would see Max, but your words explained it ... a spot full of emotion for you, but thankfully for you and Ellie, you have added Max to your family.

I have a thought for Beau in front of this beautiful photography
13 Jan 2011 12:14pm

13 Jan 2011 1:54pm
Beau is definitely there is spirit! Nicely done Jack! ;-)
13 Jan 2011 1:56pm
Must have been difficult for you, but you both had great times there an I know you cherish these moments! Love the thick fog almost covering the trees in the distance, lovely photo!
13 Jan 2011 2:49pm
@Monique: I took a number of shots of this scene because the fog was moving in and out. This was the best of the lot.
Yeah such places bring back memories........
Is Max that obedient that he's waiting 'on the foot' untill you finished shooting great pictures?;-))
13 Jan 2011 3:23pm
@Marleen: At 8 mo. of age, Max is on a leash. Beau did not need one. Max (for the most part) does wait quite patiently on the leash.
Nous célébrons cette année la disparition d'Ernest Hemingway auquel me fait penser, allez savoir pourquoi, vos paysages photographiques.

the mist reflects back to your words for a poignant moment Jack.

13 Jan 2011 8:33pm
Like Becky, I'll bet Beau knows for sure and I'll bet Max knows he was being watched...this is an important step in the process for all...I think the spirit of this place will be a soothing one over time...the fog is beautiful too ;-)

13 Jan 2011 9:18pm
Oh my! I didn't know about Beau. Im really sorry for your lost and I agree that you have done well and being very brave to go back there. Did Max and Beau live together? Or did Max arrive after?
13 Jan 2011 9:30pm
@Sonia Nansid: Max came after.

Beau whispers "take care of Dad, little brother". A magical photo!
14 Jan 2011 12:32am
You did the right thing bringing Max into your life, Im sure about that! I have 3 dogs myself, one of them a rescued greyhound with a fragile health... I wish you the best to you and your new companion.
14 Jan 2011 1:14am
I can just few the coolness of the fog as it moves in. Nice rendering of the feeling.
14 Jan 2011 2:23am
Be careful where you walk. The world might come to an end.
14 Jan 2011 2:29am
The thick fog really brings out the details of the landscape in the foreground. With you liking fog so much, I wonder how you would be able to keep an eye on Max should he run into the fog with his white fur. :-)
14 Jan 2011 4:48am
@Steven: Max is on a leash until he gets well trained :)))
A beautiful shot. Go Max!
15 Jan 2011 8:14pm
