Max in the McDonald Forest

Posted by
john4jack (Corvallis, Oregon, United States) on 13 January 2011 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

For the first time since Beau died over a month ago, I went back to the area where we were photographing that morning. This time Max was with me. He's a great little trooper.

CElliottUK from Reading, United Kingdom

I'm soooo pleased that Max is, at least to some degree, diminishing the pain of Beau's demise. But I have to ask, where is Max?-is this like the doggy equivalent of "Spot the ball", or am I just being blind?

13 Jan 2011 9:04am

@CElliottUK: Max says, "I'm a photographer's assistant. I only model when something extraordinary is desired!"

Phil David Morris from Saskatoon, Canada

Amazing and beautiful photo, the fog is mysterious and the color is
a masterpiece dream. Reminds me of your work when you got a
spotlight for a similar location.

13 Jan 2011 11:25am

@Phil David Morris: That Spotlight shot was taken from less than 100 meters away.

Judy aka L@dybug from Brooksville, Florida, United States

Ohh, I expected I would see Max, but your words explained it ... a spot full of emotion for you, but thankfully for you and Ellie, you have added Max to your family.

Must have been difficult for you, but you both had great times there an I know you cherish these moments! Love the thick fog almost covering the trees in the distance, lovely photo!

13 Jan 2011 2:49pm

@Monique: I took a number of shots of this scene because the fog was moving in and out. This was the best of the lot.

Marleen from Doesburg, Netherlands

Yeah such places bring back memories........
Is Max that obedient that he's waiting 'on the foot' untill you finished shooting great pictures?;-))

13 Jan 2011 3:23pm

@Marleen: At 8 mo. of age, Max is on a leash. Beau did not need one. Max (for the most part) does wait quite patiently on the leash.

The thick fog really brings out the details of the landscape in the foreground. With you liking fog so much, I wonder how you would be able to keep an eye on Max should he run into the fog with his white fur. :-)

14 Jan 2011 4:48am

@Steven: Max is on a leash until he gets well trained :)))
