I tried an HDR version of this, but it looked awful. This is a straight shot with a slight boost in contrast.
What an odd collection!

weird but so real .;;-)))

A real mess indeed. Objects are so intricated ! A flea market ?

@Florence: actually stuff at the recycling center
You're right Jack, just doesn't look like the sort of subject for HDR. Is this the same salvage yard?

Well seen - fantastic and varied collection we see here. Your sharp detail and vibrant colours make a great shot.

An image that I remember a special market. It is called Fleas. Paris ... A little of everything and nothing at all ... Your image is beautiful light and color. Mobile Populations editing a wonderful friend Jack! A hug, Adela y muchos besos también...

It does not need HDR treatment. Straight is fine. But I would like to see awful version...

one man's junk, another man's treasure. there is something intriguing and mysterious behind the hodge-podge of items and contrasting colors - very well presented, Jack!!!

A fine, detailed image of this scene with a unbelievable number of items. The way you handled the image looks right on to me.
7 Sep 2011 2:58pm
perhaps there are too many bright and "strong" colors for hdr! this shot has without this processing a very colorful style with a lot of details! great find!
7 Sep 2011 4:29pm
I love the colors and scale in ths fram ;-) Very cool Jack ;-) Sorry I couldn't resist the "weighty" comment!

It is Amazing what we accumulate and we artists see a collage of life and color and living and another person sees junk....Remember that old saying one man's junk is another man's treasure.. I have one organized friend i bring into help me about every 3 years..She will say,"when was the last time your used that?" and i will give her an estimate--if it is over 3 years; it is "Sayonara" for the stuff,
but now thanks to you and this photo....I have an idea...
I will tell her i need it for a still life;'that's the ticket' and my future photography of course.

@martim: I'm a big proponent of simplicity. Your friend needs to help you at least every year! When it comes to photographic equipment, all three of our sons are photographers; so I have an outlet for unused stuff.
Quite a colllection of colorful artifacts that have gathered here!
