This technique was the result of having a way underexposed photograph (as was the case with yesterday's photograph). In Lightroom 4, I moved the Exposure slider way to the right; this did most of the heavy lifting. Then I bumped Clarity way up, added a little Vibrance and a little Contrast. That was pretty much it. (Note: if I had started with a properly exposed photograph, it would have been extremely difficult to create this look.) The message to me was: sometimes when it looks like you have a disaster, you very well might have a valuable gift. The pros tend to push the sliders around like crazy.
