Almost everyone in my critique group plus my wife prefer yesterday's shot to this one. I find myself being the lone dissident. I like the simplicity and the more dreamlike feeling of this one. It is more Zen to me. So-o-o, which one would I submit for a juried exhibit? Do I risk being true to my heart, or do I go with a more probable sure bet??

It's a very effective image. I think you should stay with what you know to be true in your heart. A juror's number will soon pass, your decision will always be the right one.

I have to side with those who choose yesterday's. though I love the softness of this one, I loved the starfish yesterday.

If you're going for the "Zen effect", I would definitely go with this one as yesterday's composition is much busier. The slow shutter speed here "stills" the water and makes this a tranquil place to reflect.

wonderful composition! this is my favourite so far - great mood and elements! what caught my eye especially, is the water washing over the rocks on the left - a fine extra touch!

This may sound funny but, the beach is a little too distracting in this one. If you could soften the patterns in the sand a bit, I would go with this one.

L'angevine from Angers, France

j'adore cette couleur du sable qui apparaît aussi sur les roches

I agree with you. The last shot is tremendous and very beautiful and perfect in its composition. But perfect is always a little finite and complete. This shot, because of its side view and the more muted tones, has more depth and three dimensionality to it. It also has wonderful tension between the looming rock formations that stand so impermeable against the swirling tide. The contrast works so well here.

I think the previous shot is more balanced, but you should trust your own judgement.

Difficult choice. I think I would go with yesterday's, though I like the processing of this one. This image seems cropped too close.

@Anita: Thanks. You are with the majority.
